- Viper remote start systems are designed to be installed by factory authorized dealers of DEI or professional installation shops. Normal install times are between 2-4 hours and require the use of a Xpresskit DEI interface module to work with most vehicles. Viper remote start systems do not need to be programmed to a vehicle it is the interface module that you need to buy separately that will need to be programmed. The interface module is what tricks your car into thinking your key is present even though it isn't along with integrating key functions such as locks, trunk release, brake switch, tach output and more. Please contact your DEI authorized dealer and/or professional installation shops for all troubleshooting should a problem arise after you have installed it.
