This makes it ideal for use on kitchen items and countertops. Walnut oil dries and cures with oxygen, offering a protective barrier for stone surfaces which does not have to be continuously reapplied like other products such as mineral oil. Walnut oil is a drying oil and will not go rancid like other oils such as mineral oil, which are non-drying.
