From the Author Grandma Nona's Bar Cookies2/3 c. butter, room temperature16-oz. pkg. dark brown sugar1 t. vanilla extract3 eggs2-3/4 c. all-purpose flour2-1/2 t. baking powder1/2 t. salt12-oz. pkg. semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chipsOptional: 1 c. chopped nutsIn a large bowl, combine butter and brown sugar until blended. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Add vanilla; mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Add chocolate chips and nuts, if using; mix until well combined. Spread dough in a greased 15"X10" jelly-roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
