The design of this basting brush is for actual use.
You will get a pack of three brushes, 1 large (25 cm) in aqua sky and 2 small (19 cm) in lake blue and bright orange. The colors will help you identify them in a crowded drawer, or perhaps you can hang them up with the loops at the end of the handles.
Why an angled head?
The greatest feature of this brush is its lifted head. Since it’s hardly take one trip to finish basting something big like a turkey or a big steak, you tend to set the brush down to turn the food, or to change the sauce, or simply to give your wrist a rest, especially for those who get pain to hold a brush for long. A plate could help, but why bother? It’s not an aggressive angle, just enough to keep the basting part of the brush away from the countertop when you set it down, but will not cause any troubles in use.
Why a silicone basting brush?
A typical basting brush is with a wooden handle and hair-based, but its handle always gets stained and moldy, and its hair falls off on food, so we turn to silicone. It’s high heat resistant. Up to 600℉, it can be used in BBQ, and to baste veggies or meat right out from the oven. Its hair won’t come off. Fine silicone won’t stain or get moldy, so it’s easy to clean and maintain. When you try to cover your dinner meatloaf with ketchup, the small one should be handy and effective, but when dealing with the grill, with larger brisket, the small one is clearly not enough.
Will the silicone hairs weaken the basting?
We have done a survey before we decided how many hairs a basting brush should have. The large one has 88 bristles, and the smaller ones have 76. It’s a perfect amount to let the brush catch more sauce, hold it tight, and release them smoothly when basting. Instead of leaving some parts with too much sauce, and some blank, it paints the food evenly.
