I am not in the medical profession, but I dohave a child and a husband who are chronically ill. Therefore, they have labwork done constantly. I felt so lost when I would be handed the test resultsthey would receive. I would call the doctor, but I always felt like I wasbothering them with my questions. I decided to be proactive and learn whatthese lab results mean. I found this book. I am so glad I did. This book iswritten in a way that even those outside the medical profession can understand.I was able to understand everything being discussed. Am I an expert now?Absolutely not. But, my mind can be at ease because I now know what varioustests look for, what abnormal and normal ranges are, etc. I am now betterinformed to ask more pointed questions of the doctors and not bother them withinconsequential stuff.

If you have ever gotten the results back from bloodwork and did not fully understand it, than you definitely need this book. What is "normal range", how is that decided? The book explains an entire blood panel. And there is a little quiz at the end of the book with the answers provided. I really thought this book was very helpful, especially if you are in the nursing field..
