Description
In the Swim Granular Pool pH Increaser is easy-to-use and dissolves fast. Maintaining proper pH balance is the key to maintaining healthy pool water. pH balance is how acidic or basic the water is. The pH scale is 0-14, residential and commercial pool/spas should be between 7.2 - 7.6 with an ideal of 7.4. If the pH balance fluctuates too high or low, you may experience negative side effects. The side effects of low pH balance can vary. It may lower the effectiveness of chlorine, create corrosive water, etching of the interior and irritation of your skin and eyes. Etching can make the interior feel rough and uncomfortable. Low pH causes red eyes, dry skin, and dry damaged hair. If you swim in a pool that has a low or high pH, make sure to rinse off in the shower immediately. Side effects of high pH balance can also vary. It may cause scaling of the interior pool surface, plumbing, and equipment. Scale build-up can cause poor water circulation and low flow rates. The interior will become very rough and uncomfortable. The water can even look cloudy due to high pH balance. The first step to maintaining proper pH is completing a water test. Water can be tested with a DPD/OTO droplet test kit, water test strips, or digital testing. Once a water test has been completed, we want to start with alkalinity. Alkalinity is a buffer for the pH. Start by adjusting your alkalinity to a level between 80-120ppm*. Once your alkalinity is within range, we can start adjusting pH. Now, re-test the water. If the pH is below 7.2, please add 1 lb per 10,000 gallons (Don't add more that 4 lbs at a single time). Measure out the suggested product amount per water volume. Add the pH increaser to a chemical-safe container and mix with at least 1 gallon of water to dissolve. Pour the mixture around the perimeter of the pool. The circulation system should be running during this process. Test the water again after 3-4 hours. Repeat as needed until pH is in desired range. Parts Per Million*
