Description
The Chamba black clay comal is a type of comal for tortillas that is also used to roast chilies and vegetables, toast spices, and sear meats. The unique concave shape of the handmade comal and mica in the clay allows even heat distribution during food preparation. This versatile grilling pan for stove top will go directly from the oven, stovetop, grill, or microwave to your table for serving. Black clay Chamba cookware is well-known throughout Colombia and used in restaurants and homes to prepare and serve traditional dishes. It is still made traditionally, by families in the village of Chamba, on the banks of the Magdalena River in Central Colombia. Each piece is hand-crafted using local clays, burnished by hand, and fired on-site. The detailed process and natural materials give the dishes an authentic, distinctive, and elegant look. All-natural and unglazed, we recommend using a heat diffuser when using Chamba on a non-gas stove.
